How refilling actually works

New to it? It is easy:

Bring clean, dry containers from home, empty jars, old pump bottles, or a growler-style jug all work. Most shops also sell containers if you forget.
Weigh your empty container first (the tare), so you only pay for the product, not the bottle.
Fill up from the bulk dispensers with as much or as little as you want.
Weigh again and pay by weight or volume. You leave with the same bottle you walked in with, just full.

What you can usually refill

Varies by shop, but usually:

Hand soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner
Dish soap, all-purpose cleaner and laundry detergent
Lotion, and sometimes toothpaste tabs and other low-waste swaps
Local and refill-friendly extras like bar soap, brushes and reusables
